Watch D.O.G.S. - Join us on Tuesday, January 10th from 7:45-8:45am for the first ever Victory Elementary School Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) "Donuts with Dad" Event. Come with your student(s) to the school for FREE donuts and drinks (sponsored by the VESPTO). Throughout the hour, we will have a presentation about our Watch D.O.G.S. Program. Watch D.O.G.S. Is an innovative program being used by schools across America that helps them to be positively impacted by the committed involvement of fathers and father-figures in their student's life. The goal is to have you spend at least one day this year at the school to be a positive male role model and provide an extra set of eyes and ears.
Dads, step-dads, granddads, uncles and adult brothers...this is your chance to have some special time with your student in a fun atmosphere at school. Mark your calendars for January 10th from 7:45-8:45am and register via the SignUp Genius!
Official WATCH D.O.G.S. Uniform T-shirts for Dads (and 'My Hero' T-shirts for students) will be available for $13 each.
Make new plans for Inauguration Day, and mark your calendars!
The School Board voted Wednesday night to make Friday, January 20, 2017, a holiday for all students and staff in recognition of the presidential inauguration.
SACC and other scheduling information to come shortly.
Despite previous suggestions, the new Inauguration Day holiday will not be offset by loss of another.
Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 20, 2017, will remain a holiday, as shown on the 2016-17 calendar.
VES Garden - We are going to begin seed germination in the classrooms to start growing our VES Garden. We are in need of some empty cardboard toilet paper tubes and cardboard egg cartons. Donations can be dropped off at the main office with attention to Mrs. Hammad by Thursday, January 19th. Please sign up here if you can donate some of these items!
Ongoing Opportunity! Help in the Library - Mrs. Lindsay and Mrs. Dailey could use some extra hands re-shelving books (and other small tasks) daily in the Library. They have to re-shelve approximately 50 books every hour! If you are already helping in the classroom, consider coming early/staying late for an hour to led a hand. Any time you can spare is greatly appreciated - even if it is less than an hour. Please sign up here to help in the library!
Victory Elementary Jonah’s Bookshelf - The Victory Elementary School Library now features a red bookshelf in honor of Jonah Diaz, a 1st grade student who passed away from brain cancer in 2015. Since Jonah was an avid reader who would want children to have access to their favorite books, the bookshelf theme is "hot books"- the books that are in highest demand and most checked out. If you are interested in helping with Jonah’s Bookshelf, please consider donating by ordering a hardcover book from the Amazon Wish List (https://amzn.com/w/170UTCWWVTS1G or search “Victory Elementary Jonah’s Bookshelf” in Amazon Wish LIst) or by dropping off an Amazon gift card at the Victory library. Thank you!
